Terms of Service
Last updated: March 9, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the AAC Platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a child or dependent, you represent that you have the legal authority to accept these terms on their behalf.
2. Description of Service
The AAC Platform provides augmentative and alternative communication tools designed to support children with speech and language needs. The platform enables therapists to manage client profiles and track progress, and parents to facilitate practice sessions at home. The Service is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
3. User Accounts
You must create an account to use most features of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
- Share account credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
- Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Upload or transmit any harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Use the Service to collect, store, or process personal data of others without proper authorization
5. Children's Data and Privacy
The AAC Platform handles data related to children and is committed to protecting their privacy. All children's data is managed through authorized parent or therapist accounts — children do not create accounts directly. We collect only the minimum data necessary for the Service to function, including the child's name, age, session activity, and communication progress. This data is used solely to provide the Service and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Parents and therapists can request deletion of a child's data at any time. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle children's data.
6. Data Ownership
You retain ownership of all content and data you submit to the Service, including session data, progress records, and communication logs. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process and store this data solely to provide and improve the Service. You may export or request deletion of your data at any time, subject to applicable legal retention requirements.
7. Subscription and Fees
The AAC Platform is currently offered as a free pilot program. When paid plans are introduced, we will provide advance notice of pricing and any changes to your access. Continued use of the Service after the introduction of paid plans constitutes acceptance of the applicable fees and billing terms. Subscription details, including billing cycles, refund policies, and cancellation procedures, will be communicated separately at that time.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, features, and documentation, is owned by Arcano Designs and protected by intellectual property laws. AAC symbols provided through the Service may be sourced from third-party libraries (such as ARASAAC) and are subject to their respective licenses. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without prior written consent.
9. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. The AAC Platform is a communication support tool and does not provide medical or therapeutic advice. We are not liable for any decisions made based on the use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Arcano Designs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion, with reasonable notice where possible. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will retain your data for a reasonable period to allow retrieval, after which it will be permanently deleted.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the email associated with your account or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
